One-on-one Counseling
We offer One On One Counseling for all of our clients. Our counseling
addresses the
specific needs of each applicant. For those who find the home buying
process to be
frightening and intimidating, our free courses coupled with one
on one counseling empower
our clients with the right tools and the knowledge to make the
dream of home ownership a
possibility.
Budgeting and Credit
The Budgeting and Credit course is a crucial element of our homebuyer
education
program. Creating a successful budget is the foundation to the
success of a property
owner. This two-part course offers skills that will help our clients
create a budget to meet
their financial needs as well as help them save for a home. We
want our clients to
understand that a budget is key in the overall financial security
of their family. In addition,
we help our clients understand the ins and outs of a credit report.
Credit cannot be fixed
overnight, but it can be repaired. We offer client education about
the importance of a credit
report and credit score, credit repair, how to establish credit
and how to maintain good
credit. Our course teaches safe ways to obtain credit, maintain,
and improve credit score
and history.
Mortgage Loan
Our course on Getting a Mortgage Loan details the steps involved
in qualifying for a loan.
In addition to learning crucial terminology necessary in understanding
the home loan
process, we will also connect our clients with professionals in
the industry so that they can
learn how they fit into the home buying process. Along with our
non-profit, these
professionals will introduce our clients to the different programs
that can help them with
their down payment, closing costs, and mortgage payments. Upon
completion of this course
our clients will understand how to calculate mortgage payments.
They will be able to
answer for themselves, "How much house can I afford?"
Shopping For a Home
Shopping For a Home is one of the most unnerving parts of the
home buying process.
Our clients will learn crucial terminology necessary in understanding
the home buying
process. We will also help them figure out what is important to
them. For some, having a
school nearby is more important than having a grocery store in
the area. We help our
clients generate a list of import to help keep them focused throughout
the house hunting
process. This course will clarify and define everything from insurance
to inspections, and
everything in between. In addition, we connect our clients with
professionals in the industry
so that they can learn how they fit into the home buying process.
Post-Purchase Education
Post-Purchase Education is key in ensuring that our clients remain
successful
homeowners. Studies show that without assistance before, during,
and most importantly
after the home buying process, homeowners are less likely to remain
in their homes. This
is especially true for low-income families and first-time homebuyers.
By focusing on
foreclosure prevention, home maintenance, avoiding delinquency,
and refinance education,
we give our clients the necessary tools to avoid problems before
they occur.
